Frequently Asked Questions

Using LoungeIQ

What is LoungeIQ?
LoungeIQ is a free platform that helps you find, compare, and access airport lounges worldwide. We cover more than 2,800 lounges at more than 850 airports, with entry rules, amenities and opening hours for each one, and a citation to the source the rules came from.
Is LoungeIQ free?
Yes. Browsing lounges, reading reviews, and basic access information are completely free. LoungeIQ Pro ($5.99/month) unlocks additional features including unlimited AccessIQ lookups, the trip planner, real-time crowding data, the comparison tool, and an ad-free experience.
How is LoungeIQ different from LoungeBuddy?
LoungeBuddy was acquired by American Express in 2019 and shut down in January 2025. LoungeIQ is an independent platform built to fill that gap. Like LoungeBuddy, we help you figure out which lounges you can access based on your cards and status. Unlike LoungeBuddy, we are not owned by a credit card company, so our recommendations are unbiased.

AccessIQ

How does AccessIQ work?
Add your credit cards, airline frequent flyer status, and lounge memberships to your profile. When you open a lounge, AccessIQ checks that lounge's entry rules against your credentials and shows a clear verdict: green (you have access), amber (conditional access, check the details), or red (no access with your current cards or status).
Is AccessIQ always accurate?
We work hard to keep our access rules database current, but lounge access policies change frequently. Credit card benefits get updated, lounges change their partnerships, and new restrictions appear. Every lounge page shows the source its rules came from and when. Always verify your access directly with the lounge or your card issuer before travelling, especially for business-critical trips.
My card gives me lounge access but AccessIQ shows red. What's wrong?
Our database may not have the latest update for your specific card variant or region. Email support@loungeiq.com with the lounge name, airport and card, and we will update our records. Your correction helps every other traveller with the same card.

Lounge information

How do you get your lounge data?
We compile lounge information from official lounge operator websites, airline and credit card programme documentation, reader corrections, and our own research. Each lounge page cites the source its access rules came from and the date they were checked. With more than 2,800 lounges at more than 850 airports, some information will occasionally be out of date; where we have no source we can cite, the page says so rather than guessing. The full evidence standard is at loungeiq.com/methodology, and dated changes are listed at loungeiq.com/changes.
A lounge's opening hours or amenities are wrong. How do I report it?
Email support@loungeiq.com with the lounge name, airport, and the correct information. We typically update reported errors within 48 hours.
Can I add a lounge that's not listed?
Yes. Sign in, then use the "Suggest a missing lounge" button at the bottom of any airport page, or the suggestions section on your profile. Tell us the airport, lounge name, and ideally a link to the operator's page. We check every suggestion against a primary source before adding it, and you can track its progress on your profile. You can also email support@loungeiq.com if you prefer.

Reviews and ratings

How are lounge ratings calculated?
Each lounge's score is an editorial rating (1 to 5 stars) assigned by the LoungeIQ team from publicly available information, amenities data and reputation. It is not an average of user reviews. As traveller reviews are submitted, scores will move to community-weighted ratings over time. Ratings are not weighted or influenced by commercial relationships.
Can I trust the reviews?
Reviews are submitted by registered LoungeIQ users. We do not edit or filter reviews based on sentiment. We do remove reviews that contain spam, offensive content, or appear to be fake. If you spot a suspicious review, please report it to support@loungeiq.com.

LoungeIQ Pro

What does LoungeIQ Pro include?
Pro subscribers get unlimited AccessIQ lookups, the full trip planner with multi-airport itineraries, real-time crowding indicators, the side-by-side lounge comparison tool, offline access to saved lounges, and an ad-free experience.
How do I cancel my Pro subscription?
Go to your Profile page, then Subscription settings. You can cancel at any time. Your Pro features will remain active until the end of your current billing period. No refunds are provided for partial months.

Affiliate links

Does LoungeIQ make money from the links on the site?
Yes. Some links on LoungeIQ are affiliate links. When you click through and make a purchase or submit an application, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This is how we keep the core platform free. We always disclose when a page contains affiliate links. See our full Affiliate Disclosure for details.
Do affiliate partnerships affect your recommendations?
No. AccessIQ shows all access methods regardless of affiliate relationships. Lounge ratings are editorial and not influenced by commercial partnerships. We may highlight products we partner with, but we always disclose this and never recommend a product solely because it pays us a commission.

Account and privacy

What data do you collect?
We collect your email address and display name when you create an account, and the cards/memberships you add to your profile for AccessIQ. We also collect standard analytics data about how people use the platform. We do not sell your personal information. See our full Privacy Policy for details.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Contact us at contact@loungeiq.com and we will delete your account and associated personal information within 30 days. Reviews you have posted may remain on the platform in an anonymised form.
Do I need an account to use LoungeIQ?
No. You can browse lounges, read access rules and read reviews without an account. An account is required to use AccessIQ (which needs your card/status information), write reviews, save lounges, and subscribe to LoungeIQ Pro.
