1.Overview

This Copyright Policy explains how LoungeIQ protects its own intellectual property, how we respond to claims of copyright infringement, and how users of the LoungeIQ platform may and may not use our content. LoungeIQ is operated by Gordon Grieve (ABN 57 517 907 315), a sole trader registered in Queensland, Australia.

This policy should be read together with our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Affiliate Disclosure, all of which form part of the agreement between you and LoungeIQ.

2.LoungeIQ's copyright and intellectual property

2.1 Ownership

All content published on LoungeIQ — including but not limited to the website design, editorial text, blog posts, guides, lounge descriptions, original photographs, graphics, icons, the LoungeIQ name, and the 'The Lounge Pin' logo — is the intellectual property of Gordon Grieve and is protected under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) (Australia) and applicable international copyright conventions, including the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works.

2.2 Database rights

The LoungeIQ lounge database — comprising lounge listings, amenity data, access rule compilations, editorial ratings, and categorised information — represents a significant and ongoing investment of time, skill, and resources. This compiled database is separately protected as a database work under Australian and international intellectual property law. Systematic extraction, reproduction, or redistribution of substantial portions of the database is prohibited.

2.3 Software

The source code underlying the LoungeIQ platform, including front-end and back-end components, is proprietary software owned by Gordon Grieve. Unauthorised copying, decompiling, reverse engineering, or distribution of any part of the LoungeIQ codebase is strictly prohibited.

3.Permitted use of LoungeIQ content

Subject to these Terms, you may:

  • Access and view LoungeIQ content for your own personal, non-commercial use
  • Share links to LoungeIQ pages on social media or via email, provided no framing or embedding misrepresents the source
  • Quote brief excerpts from LoungeIQ editorial content (no more than one or two sentences) for the purpose of commentary, criticism, or review, provided you clearly attribute LoungeIQ as the source and include a hyperlink to the original page

Any other use — including reproduction, republication, distribution, adaptation, or commercial use — requires our prior written permission. To request permission, contact us at contact@loungeiq.com.

4.Prohibited uses

Without our prior written permission, you must not:

  • Copy, reproduce, republish, or redistribute any LoungeIQ content, in whole or in substantial part, on any website, application, publication, or other medium
  • Scrape, crawl, or use automated tools to extract lounge data, reviews, ratings, access rules, or any other content from LoungeIQ, including for use in machine learning, dataset construction, commercial benchmarking, or AI model training
  • Systematically download or mirror the LoungeIQ database or any substantial portion of it
  • Remove, alter, or obscure any copyright, trademark, or attribution notices contained in LoungeIQ content
  • Use LoungeIQ content to create derivative works without our express written consent
  • Represent LoungeIQ content as your own original work
  • Use the LoungeIQ name, logo, or branding in any way that implies endorsement, sponsorship, or affiliation without our written approval

5.User-generated content

5.1 Ownership of your content

When you submit reviews, ratings, photos, corrections, or other content to LoungeIQ ('User Content'), you retain ownership of that content. By submitting User Content, you grant LoungeIQ a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable licence to use, display, reproduce, modify, distribute, and create derivative works of your content on the platform, in marketing materials, on social media, and in any other media now known or hereafter developed.

5.2 Your warranties

By submitting User Content, you confirm that:

  • The content is your own original work, or you have the rights and permissions necessary to submit it
  • The content does not infringe the copyright, trademark, privacy, or other intellectual property rights of any third party
  • You have obtained all necessary consents for any identifiable individuals appearing in photographs or other content you submit

5.3 Copyright in photos

Where you upload photographs to LoungeIQ, you represent that you are the photographer and copyright owner of those images, or that you have been granted a licence to share them. LoungeIQ will not knowingly publish photographs submitted without the permission of the copyright owner. If you believe a photograph you own has been used without your authorisation, please contact us at support@loungeiq.com.

6.Third-party content and intellectual property

6.1 Third-party images and materials

LoungeIQ may display lounge photographs sourced from third parties, including lounge operators, airlines, and services such as the Google Places API, where appropriate licences or permissions have been obtained. We endeavour to ensure that all third-party content used on the platform is properly licensed. If you believe that any third-party content displayed on LoungeIQ infringes your rights, please contact us using the process set out in Section 7.

6.2 Trademarks

References to third-party brand names, airline names, credit card names, lounge operator names, and membership program names on LoungeIQ are used for identification and informational purposes only. LoungeIQ does not claim any ownership over third-party trademarks, and their use does not imply endorsement by or affiliation with the trademark owner. LoungeIQ is an independent platform and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any airline, credit card issuer, lounge operator, or membership program unless explicitly stated.

7.Copyright infringement — notice and takedown

7.1 Reporting infringement

LoungeIQ respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. If you believe that content on LoungeIQ infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to support@loungeiq.com containing the following information:

  • Your full name and contact details (including email address and phone number)
  • A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  • The specific URL(s) on LoungeIQ where the allegedly infringing content appears
  • A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law
  • A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on their behalf
  • Your electronic or physical signature

7.2 Our response

Upon receipt of a valid copyright infringement notice, LoungeIQ will:

  • Review the claim promptly and in good faith
  • Temporarily or permanently remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing content where the claim appears well-founded, pending investigation
  • Respond to the complainant within 14 business days

We aim to act as a responsible intermediary. We do not pre-screen all user-submitted content, and we rely on a notice-and-takedown model consistent with Australian law. Repeated infringement by a user may result in account suspension or termination.

7.3 Counter-notice

If you believe that content you submitted was removed as a result of a mistaken or misidentified copyright claim, you may submit a counter-notice to support@loungeiq.com. Your counter-notice should include:

  • Your name and contact details
  • Identification of the content that was removed and the location where it appeared before removal
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief that the content was removed by mistake or misidentification
  • Your electronic or physical signature

We will review counter-notices and, where appropriate, restore removed content after a reasonable period.

8.Artificial intelligence and copyright

LoungeIQ uses artificial intelligence tools to assist in the development and operation of the platform, including in content drafting, data categorisation, and code development. All AI-assisted content is reviewed, edited, and approved by the LoungeIQ team before publication.

LoungeIQ does not use AI to scrape, aggregate, or reproduce third-party copyrighted content without authorisation. We do not permit third parties to use LoungeIQ content to train AI models or build datasets without our express written permission. Automated extraction of content from LoungeIQ for any AI-related purpose is prohibited under our Terms of Use.

9.Enforcement

LoungeIQ actively monitors for unauthorised use of its content and database. Where we identify infringement, we reserve the right to take all appropriate steps to protect our intellectual property, including:

  • Issuing formal notices requiring the cessation of infringing activity
  • Pursuing civil remedies available under the Copyright Act 1968 (Cth) and other applicable laws, including injunctive relief and damages
  • Reporting infringement to relevant platforms, hosting providers, or authorities

10.Changes to this policy

We may update this Copyright Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or the nature of our content. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on LoungeIQ and, where appropriate, notify registered users by email. The updated policy will take effect on the date specified in the revised version. Continued use of LoungeIQ after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
